Frequency & Harmonics: A Simple Guide
Share
Everything in the world is in motion. Sound, light, even the atoms in a cup of tea are vibrating. Frequency and harmonics are simply ways of describing that motion.
What is frequency?
Frequency is how many times something vibrates or repeats in one second. It's measured in hertz (Hz). One hertz means one cycle per second.
You experience frequency all the time. A low bass note has a low frequency. A bird's chirp has a high one. Your heartbeat, your breath, and even your brain waves each have their own rhythm.
What are harmonics?
When something vibrates, it rarely produces just one frequency. It also creates quieter frequencies that are whole-number multiples of the main one. These are called harmonics.
For example, if a guitar string vibrates at 100 Hz, it also vibrates at 200 Hz, 300 Hz, 400 Hz, and so on. Those harmonics are why a guitar and a piano sound different even when they play the same note. Harmonics give a sound its richness and character.
What is resonance?
Resonance happens when one vibration encourages another to move with it. It's why a singer can make a wine glass hum, or why a child on a swing goes higher when pushed at just the right moment. Resonance is about rhythm and timing working together.
Why frequency matters in wellness
Many traditions have long used sound and rhythm for relaxation, from singing bowls to drumming to chanting. Modern research into how specific frequencies affect the body is still growing, and there's a lot we're still learning. What many people notice, though, is simple: certain sounds and rhythms help them feel calm, present, and settled.
Frequency in your Aura Grounding™ session
During an Aura Grounding™ session, you choose an intention, such as Deep Rest, Clarity & Focus, or Flow & Release. The session draws from a library of more than 1,500 frequency programs to create a gentle field of light, frequency, and harmonics around you, while you sip a tea chosen to match your intention.
We don't see frequency as something that fixes you. We see it as a way to create space for your body to find its own rhythm again.
Aura Grounding™ is a non-medical wellness experience and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. Please consult your healthcare provider with any health questions.
