How to Brew & Sip With Intention
Every cup is a small ritual. Here’s how to bring out the best in your Caps & Petals tea, and how to let each sip become a moment of remembering.
How to Prepare
Use about 1 teaspoon of loose tea per 8 oz cup (use a heaping teaspoon for fluffy blends with large fruit pieces or flowers). Steep in a strainer or infuser, then remove the leaves so your tea doesn’t turn bitter.
| Tea type | Amount per 8 oz | Water temp | Steep time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black tea | 1 tsp | 200–212°F (just off the boil) | 3–5 min |
| Green tea | 1 tsp | 170–180°F (steaming, not boiling) | 1–3 min |
| White tea | 1–2 tsp | 165–185°F | 4–5 min |
| Oolong | 1 tsp | 185–195°F | 2–5 min |
| Purple tea | 1 tsp | 185°F | 3–5 min |
| Rooibos | 1–2 tsp | 203–212°F | 6–10 min |
| Fruit blends | 1 heaping tsp | 203–212°F | 10–12 min |
| Herbal & wellness blends | 1 tsp–1 tbsp | 212°F (full boil) | 5–10 min, covered |
Tip: Green, white, and purple teas taste bitter if the water is too hot or they steep too long. Rooibos, fruit, and herbal blends are forgiving, so a longer steep simply makes a stronger cup. Each product page lists the exact steep time for that blend.
Iced Tea
Hot-brewed: Use double the tea, steep as usual, then pour over a full glass of ice.
Cold brew: Add 1 tablespoon of tea per 8 oz of cold water, cover, and refrigerate 6–12 hours. Strain and enjoy. Cold brewing makes a naturally smooth, sweet cup.
Save Your Leaves: Re-Steep for More Cups
Loose leaf tea keeps giving. Each serving makes 1–2 additional cups. Save your leaves and steep them again, adding a minute or two to the steep time each round.*
*Some teas, especially oolong, green tea, and rooibos, can be steeped up to 4 times. The flavor softens with each steep, so enjoy the gentle, evolving taste. For best results, re-steep within a few hours.
Sip With Intention
Before your first sip, pause. Hold your cup with both hands and feel its warmth. Take three slow breaths. Then say the “I am” words from your tea (I am peace, I am joy, I am worthy) and let them settle in as you sip slowly.
You aren’t just drinking tea. You’re remembering who you already are.
